David Newell, a board member of the Indiana Aviation Hall of Fame, provided today’s presentation. The Indiana Aviation Hall of Fame, Inc. was established to recognize, honor, and perpetuate the memory of those unique individuals who have made an enduring contribution to aviation or aerospace in Indiana, the nation, or the world through achievement, leadership, exceptional service, innovation, or entrepreneurial spirit. Some of the organization's activities include recognizing young aviators in the Air Race Classic, the Tuskegee Airmen Scholarship, Civil Air Patrol, promoting its members, and preparing new IND exhibits. A new exhibit is presently being prepared for Indianapolis Airport and one is already in place at the Grissom Air Museum.

To be honored by this organization, the first requirement is that the honoree must have been born in Indiana. Some legacy members include airmen such as Wilbur Wright, Henry Cook, Lawrence Bell, Frank Borman, and Roscoe Turner. David then shared a brief history of the 2022 winners including many Indiana individuals who have contributed to the aviation field.

David then told the club about the upcoming Indiana Aviation Hall of Fame Honors Banquet that will be held on September 21, 2024, at the 502 Event Center in Carmel, Indiana. The 2024 honorees are Joseph Allen, IV; John D. Riddle, Willa Davis, Larry Gross, Worthe Holt, and Edmond Soliday. David provided the club with a brief history of each of these individuals. More about this Honors Banquet can be found on the website: Indiana Aviation Hall of Fame https://inahof.org/

Lastly, the organization is seeking other nominations for future years. If you know of an Indiana-born aviator who has provided the field with innovations, inventions, industrialists, or astronauts, please contact the INAHOF.
